PIROJPUR: A notorious leader was killed in gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-8) in Kaukhali area of the district on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Sabuj, ringleader of the of ‘Sabuj gang’.

RAB-8 sources said the elite force personnel interrogated some people on suspicion while patrolling in the Kaukhali College ground around 6:45pm. 

Suddenly Sabuj’s accomplices fled the spot but Sabuj opened fire on them while the RAB personnel challenged them.

At one stage, they retaliated triggering a gunfight where Sabuj received bullet injury and died on the spot.

However, the law enforcers seized a pistol, two shutter guns, a rifle, four cocktails, two knives and five rounds of bullets, from his possession.

Deputy Assistant Director of Barisal RAB-8, Ruhul Amin confirmed the matter to banglanews.
