KHAGRACHHARI: The dawn to dusk hartal, called by ‘Sarbodoliyo Sochetan Nagorik Committee’ is underway in Manikchhari upazila on Monday protesting the killing of a school teacher.

However, a daylong blockade program is progressing in Panchhari upazila in protest against the gun attack on a couple by armed man also in progress from 6:00am.

Locals under the banner of ‘Sarbodoliyo Sochetan Nagorik Committee’ called the daylong hartal after a rally held in front of Gachchabil Collegiate High School protesting the killing on Saturday night.

Manikchhari Upazila Parishad chairman Snaragya Marma on Sunday declared the demonstration.

The shops and private educational institutions remained closed due to hartal and the transport communication halted on Khagrachhari-Chittagong road.

Internal transport communication also stopped during the hartal.

On the other hand, the daylong blockade, called by Parbatya Bangali Chhatra Parishad, has been continuing in Khagrachhari’s Shapla Chattar since Sunday morning.

The vehicle plying remained clogged in internal roads and Khagrachhari-Panchhari road.
