7 killed in Habiganj road crash

HABIGANJ: Seven people were killed and fourteen others injured critically in a road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Sutang area of the district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Moksud Mia, 60, of Chunarughat upazila, Nowban Bibi, 40, wife of Haris, and their daughter Ambia Khatun, 20, residents of Baniachang upazila, Mujibor Rahman, 55, Mamun, 30, Ahmadul Haque, 60, residents of Moulvibazar Sadar upazila and Yusuf Ali, 50, of Sreemangal upazila.

Witnesses said a human-hauler hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the area on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at 7:30am, leaving seven passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead and injured 14 others.

Confirming the matter, Shayestaganj thana officer-in-charge (OC) Yasinul Haque told banglanews that the injured were sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital and Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital.
