DUBAI:  A fire broke out at a resident building in Deira Banglabazar area of the city in Tuesday morning local time, injuring at least 16 people, including six Bangladeshi expatriates, severely.

One of the injured is Sakib Raditullah Bahar, Dubai unit general secretary of Awami League. The injured were rushed to Dubai’s Rashid Hospital.

Witnesses Muhamed Nabi Hussain and Muhammad Sahedul Karim told banglanews that, the fire originated from an electric short circuit around 6:30am and burnt the second and the third floors of the building.

Dubai fire fighters doused the flames around 9:30am, they added.
