4 burnt in Gabtoli slum fire

DHAKA: Four people sustained burn injuries as a fire broke out at a slum in capital’s Gabtoli area on Wednesday night.

The fire originated around 9:30pm from a shanty of the slum, leaving them severely injured, said Shanta, a victim of the fire, to banglanews.

The injured workers –Shanta,20, her daughter Bristi, 3, Rubel, 12, and Abdul Gani, 43-- were rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) around 10:40am, said Mozammel Haque, in-charge of DMCH police camp.

DMCH burn unit on-duty doctor Dr Salauddin said that of the injured, condition of Shanta, Bristi, Rubel, and Abdul Gani who suffered 98, 33, 58, and 35 percent burn injuries respectively, is critical.
