DHAKA: Miscreants blasted cocktails aiming at the residence of High Court Justice Abu Taher Mohammad Saifur Rahman in city’s Dhanmondi area on Thursday evening, a day after he pronounced judgment against broadcasting speeches of BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman.

Police sources said that some unidentified miscreants hurled two cocktails inside the justice’s house around 7:30pm.

However, no one was injured in the incident.

Dhanmondi Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Bakar Siddique confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Earlier in the morning, miscreants torched the house of another Justice of the High Court bench Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque at Balua Choumuhani village in Sadar upazila of Feni district.

Sensing the arson attack, neighbors rushed in and put the fire out immediately.

Police held a Jubo Dal activist, Nizam Uddin, from Dhalia area of Feni Sadar upazila in this connection.

Earlier on Wednesday, the High Court banned broadcast, publication and dissemination of speeches and statements of fugitive Tarique Rahman.

The Bench of Justices Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Abu Taher Mohammad Saifur Rahman gave the order.

The petition, filed on Tuesday, sought High Court orders directing the information secretary to prevent newspapers, electronic media, and social media as well from publicizing, broadcasting or reproducing Tarique's speeches.
