‘Kaler Kantho’ celebrates 5th anniversary

DHAKA: The fifth founding anniversary of country’s one of the leading Bangla daily newspapers ‘Kaler Kantho’ has been observed on Saturday with festivity.

Several hundreds of well-wishers along with patrons attended the program to share the joy of its success at Bashundhara residential area in city.

The celebration at Bashundhara Convention City (Pushpaguchha-2) was enriched by the presence of a galaxy of personalities representing all strata of society.

Country’s leading personalities, including ministers, politicians, academics, celebrities, businesspersons, members of civil society and the media started joining the program from 12:00 noon and they greeted the daily’s editor Imdadul Haq Milon with bouquets of flowers.

Jatiya Party (JP) chairman and also Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's special envoy HM Ershad, commerce minister and Awami League presidium member as well Tofail Ahmed, state minister for LGRD and Jatiya Party MP Moshiur Rahman Ranga and Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Professor AK Azad Chowdhury attended the program.

Moreover, Jatiyo Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president ASM Abdur Rab, BNP standing committee member Mahbubur Rahman, among others, also greeted ‘Kaler Kantho’ family.

Bangla daily ‘Samakal’ editor Golam Sarwar and BSS managing director and chief editor Abul Kalam Azad made their respective acquaintance on the occasion.

However, ‘Kaler Kantho’ editor Imdadul Haq Milon along with HM Ershad, Tofail Ahmed, Moshiur Rahman Ranga and ASM Abdur Rab inaugurated the anniversary program by cutting a cake.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia, DMP Additional Commissioner (Crimes and Operation) Ibrahim Fatemi, Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Special Branch Jabed Patwary and DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman also attended the ceremony.

Publisher of Kaler Kantho, Daily Sun and Bangladesh Pratidin Maynal Hossain, Kaler Kantho advisory editor Amit Habib and the journalists and employees of the daily attended the cheerful program.

‘Kaler Kantho’ started its journey on January 10, 2010 with a slogan of “Full truth, not partial”.
