DHAKA: A medical board has been formed by the city’s United Hospital authorities to ensure a better treatment of Khaleda Zia's adviser Reaz Rahman, also the former state minister for foreign affairs, who sustained bullet wounds on Tuesday night.

The hospital officials made the statement Wednesday noon.

The hospital sources said said that though Reaz Rahman is “out of danger”, but the medical board is keeping him in “close observation”.

Regarding the present health condition of BNP chairperson’s adviser, the clinical operation director of the hospital Dr Dabiruddin Ahmed said that no metallic object was found inside the patient’s body during Computerized Tomography (CT) Scan and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

He added: “But, a few injuries have been marked on his soft and nerve tissues. Moreover, the patient neither can move his left leg nor there is enough response.”

Reaz Rahman’s younger brother Dr Omar Rahman and the former minister’s daughter Amena Rahman were also present at that time.

Earlier on Tuesday, BNP chief’s adviser sustained bullet wounds at city’s Gulshan around 8:30pm and his car was also torched.

The incident took place while Reaz Rahman was leaving Gulshan after meeting the BNP Chief amid the BNP-led 20-party-alliance called nationwide indefinite blockade.
