DHAKA: A total of 253 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have been deployed Sunday morning across the country to thwart any subversive attack during the 72-hour hartal sponsored by BNP-led 20-party alliance.

Moreover, additional 60 platoons of BGB members are kept ready for deployment in emergency.

A total of six platoons BGB personnel have been deployed in Dhaka city to avert any untoward situation as well as to provide security to the commuters.

They are instructed to patrol the city streets from 6:00am to 6:00pm.

BGB headquarters public relations officer Mohammad Mohsin Reza confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Besides, 247 platoons BGB-men are deployed outside the city while 104 platoons are asked to provide security for vehicles on highways.

He further said additional 60 platoons BGB members are ready for emergency deployment.

All the BGB members will remain on duty for 24 hours but they who are deployed in the city will be on duty till 6:00pm, he added.
