DHAKA: Government is going to constitute special and permanent probe unit within a month to deal with complaints against the police.
The unit, consisting of representatives of administration, judiciary, police and others, will investigate complaints policemen face during investigation into any sensational case, competent sources said.
This unit will also ensure transparency to prove the complaints, the sources added.
At present, police investigate any complaint against police. So row is created over the investigation in many cases. And almost all allegations arise against the police are proved false.
So, the home ministry has taken initiative to form the unit to look into the complaints against police for the sake of transparency in the investigation.
Regarding the matter, Home Ministry senior secretary Dr M Mozammel Haque Khan told banglanews that usually senior police officers have been investigating complaints against the police. They formed a committee to investigate the case.
He added: But no evidence was found in support of even very serious allegations brought against the committee.
So, to prove the allegations against the police administration, the permanent probe committee will be formed within one month with representatives of the administration, judiciary, police and others, he told banglanews.
The secretary said the committee will look into only sensational and important cases.
