Dhaka: Police early Friday arrested three persons from Patuakhali coastal district in the case of double-murder of an engineer’s wife and daughter in the capital city’s Kadamtali area.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Dhaka metropolitan detective branch of police launched a drive and reined in Danny Babu, 18, Miraj Molla, 20, and Al Amin, 22, from Bahrampur village in Dashmina upazila of the district at about 2am.

Police said the arrested persons went into hiding in the area after committing the murders.

Yasmin and her four-year-old daughter Tanha were strangled in their house at Palashpur under Kadamtali thana on the night of May 7.

Yasmin’s brother, Monir Hossain, filed a case with the local police station, accusing Danny Babu, Yasmin’s stepson, as the prime suspect.
