CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Two Bangladeshi cattle traders were shot down by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on Shingnagar border in Shibganj upazila on Monday night.

BDR sources said the bodies of Fatik, 30, son of Tarajal Mia of Parchauka village, and Ismail Hossain, 25, son of Mokhlesur Rahman of Pialmari village in the upazila, were dragged into Indian side of the frontier.

Lt Col Zayed Hossain, 39 Rifles Battalion Commander, told banglanews24.com.bd that the BSF troops of Daulatpur camp opened fire on a group of 8/10 cattle traders while they were trying to enter Indian territory through Shingnagar border at about 10:30pm.

Two of the traders fell dead on the spot, in what appears to be the latest shoot-at-sight action by the border guards of the neighbouring country.

Col Zayed said, “A letter has been sent in to BSF protesting the killings and asking them to hand over the bodies.”
