4 arms traders held with arms in Sylhet

SYLHET:  Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)  held four arms traders alongwith arms and ammunition after trading fire with the gang in  South Surma upazila early Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-9 in the guise of buyers went  to the arms traders near Humayun Rashid crossing  at about 12:30am.

But knowing their identity, the arms traders opened fire on them. In retaliation, the RAB members also fired gunshots, leaving  one of the gang members injured.

Later, the crim busters arrested four gunrunners. They are bullet wound Kayes Mia,35,  of  South Surma, Abdul Wahid ,45, and Faisal ,28,  of Balaganj upazila, and Ripon,25 ,of Jagannathpur upazila, in Sunamganj district.

They also seized  one light gun (LG) , one riffle and three bullets from the possessions of the arrested.

The commander of RAB- 9 told banglanews24.com.bd that they have got some important information from the arrested persons during interrogation.

The four might have involved in an arms smuggling racket, he said.
