DHAKA: Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) submitted the charge sheet against five people including Sub-Inspector (SI) of Rampura Thana Manjurul Islam for gold bar embezzlement.

ACC Deputy-Director and also investigation officer of the case Mirza Jahidul Alam submitted the charge sheet on Thursday.

Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya, deputy director (public relations) of ACC, told banglanews that they pressed the charges to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s (CMM) court as the evidences to support gold bars scam allegation were found against the five accused.

The five accused are SI Manjurul Islam, Constables Akash Chowdhury and Wahidul Islam, police sources Mahfuj Alam Rony and microbus Driver Sajib Shikdar.

ACC sources said on March 13, police seized a car along with 235 gold bars. Later, the police team embezzled 165 gold bars and handed over the rest to the thana.

On April 7, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch Inspector Fazlul Haque filed a case with Rampura Thana.
