DHAKA: Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) president Saber Hossain Chowdhury said that heads of the governments will meet at a 3-day summit on disaster risk reduction staled to begin from September 25.

He made the disclosure in his speech at 4th world speakers’ conference at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York on August 31.

A press release sent from Jatiya Sangsad (JS) public relation department informed the media on Tuesday.

IPU president said that the parliamentarians of different countries will get opportunity to work for people as the upcoming summit will take initiatives to reduce risks from disasters as well as to initiate a roadmap for sustainable development.

He also held bilateral meetings with the speakers of Vietnam, Iran, Hungary and Lithonia in the sideline of the conference.
