MONGLA, BAGERHAT: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said her government has taken both short and long-term plans to make Bangladesh Navy more effective.
The plan will be implemented within 2030, the premier added.
She was addressing to Navy officials after commissioning three ships -- BNS Khan Jahan Ali, BNS Sandwip and BNS Hatia -- at naval berth in Mongla of Khulna district on Sunday morning.
A modern survey ship was included in the Bangladesh Navy search fleet to help identify maritime boundary within a short period.
Later, a maritime helicopter and maritime petrol aircraft also included.
The forces also received two missile frigates, an America-made frigate, two missile corvette and five petrol crafts made in Khulna Shipyard, the PM added.
She also said, “Bangladesh Navy now can cheek large sea area and patrol more times than the previous years. It will play an important role to secure our maritime boundary and resources”.
More frigates from America and China will be added in future to fulfill the dreams of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to make the Navy as a three-dimensional force.
The premier also expressed her satisfaction as the navy members, worked in the peacekeeping mission last year, earned fame for the nation.
