DHAKA: At least five Bangladeshi pilgrims were killed and other 15 injured in the Friday stampede in Mina during hajj performance in Makkah.

The deceased were identified as Julia Huda of Sunamganj, Tahera Begum of Feni and his brother Nurunnabi Mintu, Firoza Khanam of Jamalpur and Jahanara Arzu of Munshiganj.

However, Asaduzzaman, consular (hajj) of Bangladesh consulate in Jeddah told banglanews that as they did not get any report about the nationality of the dead pilgrims, he should not comment on the death of Bangladeshis.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Hajj Mission in Makkah confirmed the media reports of 15 Bangladeshis as injured in the stampede.
