SHARIATPUR: Police arrested nine members of the banned Islamist outfit ‘Allahr Dal’ from Shariatpur district stadium on Monday night, as action against suspected militants is on steam across the country.

Palang thana OC Rabiul Alam told banglanews24.com.bd, “On information, they raided the stadium area and held them along with “Jihad” books and leaflets at 11 pm.

The detainees are Saiful Islam Sumon, Abid Ahmed Shishir, Sabuj Sardar, Jahidul Islam, Saidul Islam, Shihabuddin, Ziaul Karim Sujan, Shafiqul Islam Suruj and Emdadul Haque Talukder.

District police super AKM Shahidur Rahman said, “The militants were picked up as they were preparing to carry out subversive acts.”

Earlier on July 24, at least 25 operatives of ‘Allahr Dal’ were run in from sadar upazila of northern Gaibandha district.
