KOLKATA: “We haven’t forgotten Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman; we will never forget him; he cannot be forgotten as he is the father of Bangladesh.”

Chief Minister of India’s West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, came up with these assertions while inaugurating the unveiling program of Bangabandhu’s wax statue at Mother’s Wax Museum in Kolkata on Friday.

Mamata also said, “We want to inform Sheikh Hasina (Prime Minister of Bangladesh) that we have not forgotten Bangabandhu and will never forget him.”

Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Kolkata Zokey Ahad and other high-ups were present here.

Zokey Ahad thanked the West Bengal chief minister and said that the honour and love she has shown towards Bangladesh is great achievement for us.

He also congratulated the sculptor Susanta Roy as the wax statue truly reflected the personality of Bangabandhu.

The deputy high commissioner also proposed to keep some photos of historic March 7 speech by Bangabandhu. The museum authority also consented to it.

He also said he would propose the Bangladesh government to install such a statue at Bangabandhu Museum in Dhaka.

He requested the governments of both Bangladesh and India to consider about installing a full statue of Bangabandhu replacing his bust at Bekar Hostal in Kolkata.

Zokey Ahad also requested Bangladeshis, who would visit Kolkata, to visit the wax statue of Bangabandhu.
