DHAKA: Detective Branch (DB) of police detained five people from Mirpur area in city on charge of hatching conspiracy to create sabotage at government establishments.

The detainees were identified as -- Abdur Rahim, Faruq Hossain, Mostafa Mollah, Shakhawat Hossain alias Shahar Ali and Qazi Mojibur Rahman.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) media center confirmed the matter to banglanews.

DMP (DB, west) deputy commissioner Sajjadur Rahman told banglanews that acting on tip-off they conducted a drive in the area around 10:00pm on Thursday.

He also said there were several cases with several thanas in city against the five detainees.

Another case was filed against them, he added.

The detained also were taken on two-day remand started from Friday, he added.

DMP (DB, west) additional deputy-commissioner Saiful Islam said the detainees are BNP-Jamaat’s unit secretaries and joint secretaries at various areas in city.
