DHAKA: Alison Blake has been appointed British High Commissioner to Bangladesh in succession to Robert W Gibson.

According to the British government website, outgoing high commissioner Robert W Gibson will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment.

Blake will take up her appointment during January 2016, says gov.uk on October 12.

Earlier Alison Blake worked as deputy high commissioner in Pakistan from 2011 to 2014.

She also worked as first secretary to Washington DC from 2001 to 2005.

The envoy joined British civil service in 1989.
