Gibson condemns publisher murder

DHAKA: British high commissioner to Bangladesh Robert W Gibson on Saturday evening condemned the murder of Jagriti Prakashani owner Foysal Arefin Dipon in city.

In a Twitter message the UK envoy said, ‘I condem yet another attack on bloggers. Violence is never the answer or acceptable in any circumstances. Essential we protect free speech’. (Sic)

Foysal Arefin Dipon was chopped dead at Shahbagh in city Saturday afternoon. The deceased published several books of slain blogger Avijit Roy.

Earlier in the day, a gang of three-four miscreants chopped popular publishing house Suddhaswar owner Ahmedur Rashid Tutul, poet Tareq Rahim and writer-researcher Ranadipam Basu, leaving them critically injured.
