DHAKA: Bangladesh ace all-rounder cricketer Shakib-al-Hasan sought blessing for his newly-born daughter so that the couple can grow the baby with the spirit of humility, compassion and love for all.

Earlier on Monday, the all-rounder was blessed with a daughter.

After becoming father, the Bangladesh vice-captain wrote a status on his Facebook page, ‘"On this beautiful Sunday, the 8th of November, 2015, Shishir and I have been blessed by the Almighty with a piece of heaven... Shishir and our little princess are both in good health. Thank you for all your sincere prayers, kind thoughts and warm wishes... Please pray for us and especially our daughter so that she can grow to her full potential with humility, compassion and love for all. Ameen"

Shakib’s wife Umme Ahmed Shishir gave birth to a baby girl at a US hospital at 4:00am (New York time).

On Sunday night, he flew for the USA where his wife gave birth to their first child.

Shakib, the world's leading all-rounder, starred in Bangladesh's 145-run win in the first one-day international (ODI) in Dhaka grabbing 5-47, his maiden five-wicket haul in ODIs.

The 28-year-old, who has 206 wickets in 157 ODIs, is just one wicket shy of joining fellow left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak as the country's leading wicket-taker in the 50-over format.

Earlier on 12 December 2012, Shakib Al Hasan married to Shishir.
