DHAKA: Mayor Annisul Huq sought cooperation from the transport workers of Tejgaon Truck Stand in keeping the city streets clean.
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor sought the cooperation Sunday afternoon while the law enforcers tried to evict the illegal structures at the truck stand.
‘We will construct a terminal for trucks so that no vehicle is parked on streets,’ he said adding, ‘the parking on roads increase traffic congestion triggering the misery of commuters.’
According to the mayor, he has talked to the truck owners who demanded to evict the illegal structures in the area to provide place for the terminal.
Earlier in the day, rail minister Mazibul Hoque, DNCC mayor Annisul Huq and high-ups of administration went to the place to evict illegal structures that created clashes between law enforcers and transport workers.
However, at least three, including a readymade garment worker, received bullet injuries during the clash.
