Death threats against Shahriar among 8

RAJSHAHI: Militant outfit Ansar Al Islam issued death threat against eight eminent persons including state minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam.

The others include Rajshahi city corporation former mayor AHM Khayruzzaman Liton, litterateur Hasan Azizul Haque, Rajshahi University vice-chancellor Professor Muhammad Mizanuddin, Rajshahi range deputy inspector general of police Iqbal Bahar, Rajshahi Awami League general secretary Dablu Sarkar, district education board former chairman Professor Dr Abul Hayat and local daily ‘Sunshine’ managing editor Yunus Ali.

But police said that they are not informed about the death threat.

However, Shahriar Alam’s APS Sirajul Islam confirmed the death threat to banglanews.

Moreover, ‘Sunshine’ managing editor also confirmed the matter saying that the letter was received Monday morning.

In the subject line the group has written ‘Our targets in Rajshahi city’.
