TDHAKA: he defence lawyers of condemned war criminal Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami started placing their arguments at the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) for the second day on Tuesday.

The 4-member appeal bench, led by Chief Justice SK Sinha is holding the hearing.

The other members include-- Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and Justice Hasan Foez Siddique.

Defence lawyer S M Shahjahan started presenting arguments in the morning. Earlier on Monday, he presented arguments for the first day at the appellate division.

Attorney general Mahbubey Alam has been leading the preosecution.

Earlier on October 29, three-member International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 consists of its chairman Justice M Enayetur Rahim, Justice Anwarul Haque and Justice Jahangir Hossain sentenced Nizami to death in a case of crimes against humanity during the country’s war of liberation in 1971.
