DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday reiterated the anti-terrorism stand of Bangladesh saying that ‘no terrorist will be allowed to use the land of Bangladesh’.
She also said, ‘We want peace’.
The premier made this assertion when the outgoing India High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran called on her at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in city.
Prime Minister’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed the journalists about the meeting.
He said the premier lauded Pankaj Saran for his contributions about strengthening the bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and India in the last six-and-a-half-year.
‘She also said a lot has been achieved in various sectors, especially about ensuring security, connectivity, electricity, infrastructural development, cultural exchanges and people to people connectivity,’ the press secretary added.
The premier, however, put emphasis on more visits of high-ranking officials between the two neighboring countries, he added.
According to him, the PM recalled the contributions of India during the war of liberation in 1971 and said ‘India not only helped us, they gave shelter to our people also’.
Pankaj Saran praised the farsighted and dynamic leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
The envoy also put importance on ‘talks’ for finding out solutions of any problems.
The press secretary further said mentioning the visit of Sheikh Hasina to India in 2010 Pankaj Saran stated that that visit helped develop a new chapter in bilateral relationship between the two countries.
Prime minister’s principal secretary Abul Kalam Azad and press secretary Ihsanul Karim, among others, were present during the meeting.
