Specially abled now design PM greetings cards

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday announced that from this time forth, all of her greetings cards on occasions of eid, new year and other state affairs will contain paintings by specially abled people.

The premier came up with the announcement at a program marking the International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in city this noon.

Sheikh Hasina has already started using greetings cards containing paintings by disabled.

The theme for IDPwD-2015 is “Inclusion matters: access and empowerment for people of all abilities”.

The PM said the stand of Bangladesh about the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is to include each and everyone in the development activities; no one should lag behind.

This means, the disabled are also included in these activities, she added.

Mentioning names of some projects that incumbent government introduced for the development of disabled, the premier said government has been working to empower the disabled and include them in society for a long.

She also lauded the achievements by sports teams of disabled.

The PM further said, ‘There is a special kind of talent among the disabled and we need to ensure its development’.

She also urged people to behave with them properly and asked the well-off to come forward to help them.
