PIROJPUR:  A leader of Krisak League, a front organisation of Awami League (AL), was killed and 13 others were injured in a road accident in Bhandaria upazila of Pirojpur district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Hamid Munshi, 65, president of Bhandaria upazila unit Krisak League.

Witnesses said a bus ran over some leaders and activists of AL and Krishak League near to platoon of the Charkhali ferry ghat as its driver lost control over the steering around 10:30 am, leaving one dead on the spot and 13 others injured.

The accident took place around 10:00am when the leaders and activists of AL and Krishak League were going to join a tri-anneal council at Pirojpur district Awami League.

Bhandaria thana OC Kamruzzaman Talukder told banglanews that  on information, police and fire service officials rushed to the spot and sent the injured to Bhandaria health complex.

Later, nine of them sent to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
