KHULNA: Four members of a police official’s family sustained burn injuries in a gas cylinder explosion in Khalishpur area of Khulna city on Saturday morning.

The incident took place at a house in Majguni residential area of Khalishpur around 7:30am.

Among the inured, one was identified as Atiar Rahman, constable of Khulna metropolitan Police. He is serving as driver of Khalishpur Thana.

Other injured are his wife, their daughter and son.

Khalishpur Thana officer-in-charge (OC) M Anwar Hossain told banglanews that the fire broke out from an explosion in the gas cylinder when wife of the police official was cooking food this morning.

Atiar sustained burns when he tried to save his wife. Then, their son and daughter received burn injuries. Hearing their scream, neighbors rushed to the spot and sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital, the OC added.
