PABNA: A group of miscreants strangled a schoolboy to death for ransom in Ataikula upazila of Pabna district.

The victim has been identified as Shakil Aktar (15), son of Belal Hossain and a student of class IX at Ataikula High School.

Police recovered the body around 1:30pm on Saturday from a nursery at Madhupur village of the upazila.

Earlier on Friday evening, Shakil was playing badminton by his house. He left the game as someone phoned him. Later, a person over cell phone demanded Tk 5 lakh as ransom.

Locals on Saturday afternoon found the boy dead and informed the police.

Ataikula Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Nure Alam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
