DHAKA: Customs officials of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport detained four persons, including two women, along with 14.5-kg gold bars on Wednesday.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate director general Dr Moinul Khan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
The arrestees have been identified as Anwara Begum (30), Nahida Farzana Moni (25), Anwar Parvez (25) and Osman Sohel (29).
Moreover, Anwara and Nahida worked at a beauty parlor in Chittagong.
Customs officials seized 125 pieces of gold bars weighing 14-5-kg.
Customs intelligence and investigation directorate director general Dr Moinul Khan told banglanews that they detained four passengers of a Biman Bangladesh flight BG-046 of Kuwait-Chittagong-Dhaka route.
Customs intelligence and investigation joint-director Shafiur Rahman said that two male passengers carried the gold bars and later tactfully handed over to the two women.
