DHAKA: Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat, US ambassador to Bangladesh called on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam on Wednesday in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the call on, ambassador Bernicat expressed her happiness over the security measures taken by the government of Bangladesh in the diplomatic zone in Dhaka as well as in other parts of the country.

She informed the State Minister about various forthcoming visits of US high officials and leadership to Dhaka in the next year.

The US Ambassador appraised the State Minister about different initiatives to counter terrorism including IMAM training program in Bangladesh.

She also mentioned about the US offer for training of police personnel who are expected to be engaged in the proposed counter terrorism unit of Bangladesh Police.

State Minister Shahriar Alam discussed about the possibility of resuming the Dhaka-New York direct flight with the US Ambassador.
