DHAKA: Two Malaysian citizens were detained along with six-kg gold bars from their possession by a preventive team of Dhaka customs house at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in city Wednesday night.

The detainees were identified as Chan Kok Wai, 24 and Chen Shim Shep, 58.

Assistant commissioner of Dhaka customs house Shahiduzzaman Sarker told banglanews that they detained the two after their arrival through a Malaysia Airlines flight MH112 around 9:30pm.

He said the gold bars worth around Tk three-crore. “The two also tried to hide their identity,” he added.

Actions would be taken against them, AC Shahiduzzaman added.
