Clash leaves 30 people injured in Ashuganj

ASHUGANJ: At least 30 people were injured in a clash between two villages centering supremacy here in Brahmanbaria Friday.

The injured were admitted into local clinics and district sadar hospital.

Locals and police sources said an altercation started between Mohsin Miah of Kamaura village and Jakir Miah of Marani village over a trifling matter. At one stage, they attacked each other.

Centering their fight, thousands of people of two villages locked in a clash on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Kamaura Bus Stand area under Ashuganj.

The clash, which continued for an hour, left 30 people injured.

Traffic on the busy route halted during the clash.

On information, Ashuganj thana police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Abu Jafar, Officer-in-Charge of Ashuganj thana, told banglanews that the situation was "under control",

Additional police forces were deployed in the troubled area, he informed.
