The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has sought wealth statements of driver of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Abdul Malek and his wife Nargis Begum over allegation of amassing wealth beyond known source of income.
Moreover, the anti-graft body also sought wealth statements of 20 people including 11 employees and officials of the health sector.
ACC Director (public relations) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the matter to Banglanews on Monday evening.
Abdul Malek, driver of former director general of DGHS Abul Kalam Azad, was suspended on Monday afternoon over allegation of irregularities and corruption.
DGHS DG Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam confirmed his suspension.
RAB on Monday morning filed two cases against Malek with Turag police station under the Arms and the Special Powers Acts.
He was accused of possessing illegal firearms, huge amount of counterfeit notes and amassing wealth through extortion.
Later at noon, a Dhaka court placed Malek on a 14-day remand in the cases.
