Iftekhar Fardin Dihan, the lone accused in a case filed over the rape and murder of an 'O' level student of Mastermind School in Kalabagan area, gave confessional statements before a Dhaka court on Friday afternoon.
Judge Mamunur Rashid of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court recorded the statements under section 164 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
CMM court's Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) Hemayet Uddin Khan said accused Dihan was produced before the court around 1:00 pm today and the judge started recording depositions at his chamber around 2:00pm.
The magistrate also sent Fardin to jail after recording the confessional statements.
Earlier, police also sought 10-day remand for Dihan in the case.
Victim's father Md Al Amin on Thursday night filed the case with Kalabagan police station accusing Anushka's lover Iftekhar Fardin Dihan of killing her daughter after gang-rape.
In the case statement, the plaintiff alleged that Fardin tricked his daughter to go to his flat and raped her when his family members were not home.
Due to rape, the victim bled profusely and became unconscious. Fardin then took her to hospital to deflect blame, the victim's father alleged.
Abul Hasan, assistant commissioner (New Market Zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
Anushka Amin Arna was allegedly killed following gang-rape at Kalabagan by Iftekhar Fardin Dihan and some of his friends on Thursday afternoon.
Kalabagan police arrested four people, including main accused in the incident Dihan, immediately after the incident.
Later, Iftekhar Fardin Dihan shown arrested in the case filed by victim's father and gave confessional statements to police.
