NOAKHALI: A man was shot dead and three others sustained bullet injuries in a fierce clash between two groups in Mujahidpur village under Begumganj Upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as Munir Hossain, 40, son of Siraj Miah of the village.

Begumganj Thana Sub-Inspector Jishan told banglanews that a brawl over a cell phone steeling matter triggered the clash between families of Saiful and Babu on Friday morning.

“Later, Babu along with his family men set off a random shoot out aiming Saiful’s residence that left Munir died on the spot and three others critically injured,” he added.

Begumganj Thana Officer-in-Charge MD Nazim Uddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said, “A murder case had been filed against Saiful.”

The injured were admitted to Noakhali General Hospital.
