DHAKA: Opposition BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia reached at Sommilito Peshajibi Parishad’s convention at city’s Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) on Sunday afternoon.

She is scheduled to address the programme as chief guest.

Earlier in the afternoon, the convention began with former DU VC Professor Emajuddin Ahmed in the chair at around 3.15pm.

After a spell of uncertainty due to cancellation of booking by BICC authority and amid a ban on political gatherings, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) allowed the pro-BNP organization to hold the programme on certain conditions.

However on Saturday, DMP imposed a ban on holding any kind of meeting, procession and rally in the capital for an indefinite period from Sunday morning to avert anarchy and confrontation.
