DHAKA: Civil Society people and political experts of the country on Monday welcomed the proposal of interim government made by opposition BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
They also opined that the matter is depending on the attitude of the incumbent government.
Executive Director of Ain O Salish Kendra Sultana Kamal, also former adviser of the caretaker government, told banglanews, Khaleda Zia’s proposal is positive but two top leaders of two leading political parties would take the final decision.
Apart from this, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Executive Director Iftekharuzzaman, in an immediate reaction after Khaleda’s proposal, said, “Any proposal can be accepted by the discussion but it only depends on prime minister.”
Earlier in the day, opposition BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia proposed the outline of the interim government for holding the next general elections.
“The interim government will be formed by the 10 members from the advisors of the caretaker government of 1996 and 2001 as per the proposal of ruling and opposition parties,” she said.
