At least 24 people, including women and children, were killed on Sunday (Sep 25) after a boat capsized in Panchagarh district Boda Upazila. 

The incident happened at 3:00pm today. 

Boda Police Station Officer- in-Charge (OC) Sujoy Kumar Roy confirmed the matter. 

SM Sirajul Huda, superintendent of police (SP) of Panchagarh, said the boat carrying 60-70 passengers including women and children sank in the middle of the river while heading towards Badheshwar temple on the occasion of Mahalaya from Mareya Aulia ghat around 2:30 pm.

Police suspected that at least 10 people still remained missing from the trawler capsize. The search for the missing was underway. Many swam to safety.
