Awami League (AL) expelled Jahangir Alam, the suspended mayor of Gazipur City Corporation, for life.

A press release was issued by Office secretary of the party Biplab Barua on Monday (May 15).

According to the press release, AL’s central executive committee expelled former general secretary of Gazipur city unit Md Jahangir Alam for life as per party charter. 

The expulsion order will come into effect immediately, the press release said.

Earlier on November 19, 2019, Jahangir Alam was expelled from the party. Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over that meeting.
