BNP leaders and activists are gathering in front of the party's Nayapaltan office amid rain to attend the rally protesting the verdict against party's acting chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman in a graft case.

Apart from the capital, protest rallies are being held across the country in districts and cities.

On August 2, Tarique Rahman was sentenced to nine years' imprisonment while his wife Zubaida Rahman three-year jail sentence in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in 2007.

Judge Md Asaduzzaman of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court delivered the judgment in their absence.
