BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will not be able to attend the Bangladesh Nationalist Freedom Fighters' rally slated to be held on December 21 due to health issues.
Party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir disclosed the matter during a press briefing at the chairperson's Gulshan office on Thursday (Dec 19) morning.
Mirza Fakhrul said: "She (Khaleda Zia) has been ill since Tuesday night. According to doctors' advice, her participation in the rally has been canceled."
Pro-BNP freedom fighters' group the Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal will organise the event under the theme "Shobar Age Bangladesh" (Bangladesh First) at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Khaleda Zia was scheduled to attend as the chief guest in the programme. Tarique, who has been leading the party from London, is expected to address the rally virtually.
