NATORE: Miscreants chopped an activist of ruling Awami League to death in Tofakhana area of Gopalpur under Lalpur upazila of the district on Wednesday noon.

The deceased was identified as Sakhawat Hossain, 40, hailed from Dilalpur village of Walia Union under Lalpur upazila.

Sources said the miscreants chopped the victim to death at around 1:30pm while he was going to Gopalpur riding on a motorbike, leaving him dead on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge of Lalpur Thana Matiar Rahman told banglanews: “On information, police rushed to the spot.”

Sakhawat might have been killed over previous dispute, the OC added.
