BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said that only a government elected by the people’s mandate can implement full reforms in the parliament.
He made the remark on Tuesday (Dec 17) during a financial assistance program organized by the Doctors' Association of Bangladesh (DAB) at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University for those injured in the July-August mass uprising.
Khasru said that reforms cannot be decided at a table but must belong to the people as part of a democratic process. He stressed that sustainable reforms will only take place in the parliament with public approval.
He also said that no reform would be effective if politicians have bad intentions and reaffirmed BNP’s commitment to implementing its 31-point agenda.
The event was attended by Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain and BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Professor Dr. Farhad Halim Dona.
Following the discussion, financial support was provided to those injured in the July-August movement on behalf of BNP.
