DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi criticized the Election Commission saying that it has became a cohort of the government.
Rizvi on Saturday commented at a press conference at BNP central office in city’s Naya Paltan area.
He said that EC has been working in materializing the government’s Machiavellian rules. Pointing to the incumbent Prime Minister, he said, that’s why a party chief is claiming herself as country’s premier after a voter-less election.
The senior BNP leader also claimed that if the government and its collaborating forces (administration and Election Commission) did not attack on opposition, then the 19-party alliance-backed candidates would win 95 percent posts in the first phase of Upazila polls.
He further claimed that government had used their subservient administration in the polls.
BNP religion affairs secretary Masud Ahmed Talukder and assistant office secretary Abdul Latif Jony, among others, were present at the briefing.
