Palak remanded in Jatrabari killing case

Former State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak has been placed on a four-day remand in connection with the murder of Obaidul Islam during the July-August mass uprising.

A Dhaka court issued the order today (March 24) after police presented Palak before the court, requesting a seven-day remand.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiak granted the four-day remand and also formally showed Palak arrested in two additional cases filed at Jatrabari Police Station.

Obaidul Islam was fatally attacked on August 5, 2024, near Hanif Flyover Toll Plaza in Jatrabari, allegedly by police and Awami League (AL) supporters.

Palak was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of police from the Nikunja area of Dhaka on August 14, 2024.

He has since been placed under various remands in connection with multiple cases related to the crackdown on the anti-discrimination student movement.
