The Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested former State Minister for Planning Dr. Shamsul Alam early Thursday from Dhaka's Mohammadpur area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the matter. 

Shamsul Alam was detained around 12:30am, he said.  

He is currently in DB custody and will be produced before the court today.

The former minister faces multiple cases related to the July mass uprising.
