DHAKA: A DHAKA court rejected bail petition to BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Sunday in a money-laundering case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission.
Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Metropolitan Session Court Ruhul Amin passed the order after bail hearing when police produced the BNP leader before the court.
Advocate Sanaullah Mia, Advocate Masud Ahmed Talukder moved the hearing for Khandaker Mosharraf.
Earlier on March 14, the court had rejected Mosharraf’s bail petition and placed him on a three-day remand.
Mosharraf was nabbed by Anti Corruption Commission’s officials from his Gulshan residence in the capital and handed over to police in connection with the case filed by ACC Director Nasim Anwar on February 6.
According to the case, Mosharraf laundered an amount of around Tk 9.53-crore to the UK when he was the Health and Family Welfare Minister during the 2001-2006 tenure of the BNP-led government.
